While Department 56 dominates the lit porcelain and ceramic house market, other manufacturers have come out with some very nice pieces. Carole Towne Lemax houses are creative and affordable, and blend well with D56 villages, depending on the theme you're doing. The Lemax village collections are quite diverse, and include Caddington Village, Plymouth Corners, Santa's Wonderland, Vail Village, Autumn Harvest, Harvest Crossing, Sugar 'N Spice, and Carnival. Michael's craft stores carry the Lemax line.

Fitz & Floyd has beautiful Christmas collectibles including some Village buildings and accessories that are of F&F usual superb high quality. Avon has had a tabletop village since 1982, part of the McConnell's Corner Village, and some of the older pieces are getting hard to find.
